We had a full day today. It started with a hearty breakfast then a decision to hike the two miles up hill to Lake Louise from the village. And, it was well worth it. We got to the top of the trail and were greeted with a Grand Canyon-like “wow factor”.

We lingered at Lake Louise for 30 minutes or so taking in the “hugeness” of the glacial valley, that simply defies both description and photos. Then it was back downhill to a lunch restaurant with a view. We had some great “Mountain Burgers” that were spiked with a spicy BBQ sauce. Perfect for hungry hikers!

After lunch it was a road trip north towards Jasper, Alberta. There were beautiful views every kilometer, and at some point we just had to agree to not stop for every photo opp!

At the end of the 3.5 hour road trip we arrived in Jasper at our bungalow by the river. To cap off the day we got a great carry out pizza and some cold beer to enjoy I’m our Canadian “back yard.”

We both agreed that it had been a totally “immersive” day in the Canadian Rockies. And at the same time, very relaxing.
