There is a legend that in the Alsace region, you can start your day having coffee in one country, and end your day (in the same chair) having wine in a different country. Either France or Germany, but don’t worry, it changes often (historically speaking).
As an example, the Battle of the Colmar Pocket from late WWII (that we explored today) was a battle to liberate French cities from the Germans who had liberated the same cities from the French. Confused yet? No worries—here are some photos:
